The difference between a manual blind and a remote-controlled blind is the way it is operated.
The manual option is done by hand and is usually recommended when the window is within reach.
The electric or solar operated blinds come with a remote control device that you power the blind remotely.
The first thing you need to consider when deciding between the manual and remote controlled blinds is whether you have manual or electric/solar roof windows.
If you have a manual roof window and you’d like to have remote-controlled blinds, then the solar powered option is a good choice, because there is no wiring needed.
VELUX solar powered blinds are a perfect match for VELUX manually operated roof windows and for VELUX solar powered roof windows.
As the blind comes with a remote control, it is ideal for windows that are hard to reach or where you want to adjust the incoming light often.
Please note that no direct sunshine is required for the motor battery to charge, and they work perfectly on North-facing roofs, even if it is often overcast.
If you have an electrically powered VELUX roof window: VELUX electrically powered blinds are a perfect match as:
- an installation of electric powered blind is easy as VELUX electric roof windows are made with pre-installed electrical components.
- there is no need for any electrical wiring as it is already done for your VELUX electric roof window.
Please note, you will receive a new remote control device for both the Solar and Electric powered roof window blinds.
If you don't have an electrically powered VELUX roof window, but you would like an electrically powered blind, you need to obtain the control system KUX 100. This will allow you to use the electrically powered VELUX blinds or shutters in manually operated roof windows.
If you already have a VELUX remote and you wish to synchronize the blind onto that, it is possible, as you will receive a guide on how to do that within the installation manual. Alternatively, please watch this video on how to group products: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbmCz6FgAIU
Please be aware that you will need to have a separate remote for your windows and your blinds. You should also know that you can operate up to 5 products with one remote.
If you wish to synchronize all your VELUX electric or solar products to one remote, that’s possible too, you will need a VELUX Active kit for that.
