Installation - Frequently Asked Questions
All the products on our website are designed in a way that they are easy to install and use.
All products will arrive with their own instructions to follow for a successful installation.
We know that on occasion you may come across some concerns that stop the installation from being conducted, so we wanted to highlight some frequent questions our customers have asked and how to resolve these.
- VELUX Blackout Roller Blind Cord Issue – On occasion when installing the VELUX Blackout Roller Blind, the cord can become twisted or frayed or not positioned correctly, meaning the blind will not roll up and down correctly. Please note, the cord should always be placed behind the plastic fixing just like the following images.
If the cord is twisted, please remove the side channels from each side and try and untwist before re-installing the side channels and re-attempting the operation. If the issue remains after this or you see the cord has frayed, please capture some images of the fault and contact our Customer Support Team here and we will investigate further to provide a resolution.
- Side Channel Installation – When installing the aluminium side channels, it is important to pay close attention that these are lined up with the top blind unit and fit in correctly, otherwise there will be a small gap between the connections and let in light around the edges. Please look at the following images to ensure the installation is conducted correctly.
- When Do I need to buy the ZOZ 230 Mounting Brackets?
On all New Generation V22 and V21 VELUX roof windows there is usually pre-installed brackets connected to the window, meaning you can continue to use these when your blind arrives. The blind should just click into place if you have purchased a VELUX branded blind, or alternatively, you may need to use one of the screws to the fix the blind into place if you have opted for either the VELUX Replacement Blackout Blind or Itzala branded blinds.
If there are no brackets fixed to your window, then do not worry as we send out mounting brackets with most of the blinds we offer on our website. The only exceptions are the VELUX branded blinds with white frames and the VELUX INTEGRA (electric/solar) blinds for older generation roof windows.
When we refer to ‘Older Generation’ roof windows we mean windows with product codes that do not include the letter ‘K’ for example GGL M04 3070 and windows with only numbers in the size reference (i.e. GGL 304 or GGL 4)
Please note, if you have the following bracket, this must be removed before installing the blind, as the blind will no longer be compatible with this type of bracket:
- Itzala Venetian Blind Cord Not Long Enough
When installing the Itzala branded Venetian blind on a V22 VELUX Roof Window (window sizes that contain the letter ‘K’ such as GGL MK04 3070) you may find there is not enough cord to fit to the bottom of the window frame.
In this case, please unhook the cord at the top of the blind unit just like the following images:
This will then provide more cord to allow you to install the blind correctly.
The above scenarios are typically our most asked questions when it comes to installation, however, if we have not covered your questions above, please reach out to a member of our Customer Support Team and we’ll happily assist you.
